Westhill Worship! – November 8, 2009
For the second week in a row, we had a very challenging rehearsal. And for the second week we were blessed by the way things came together in the service. It’s good to know that God is the true leader of our teams!
It’s been a couple of weeks since I have posted a recap.
Here’s a peek at the setlists for the last two weeks:
November
Nov. 1 – http://www.planningcenteronline.com/plans/808544/public
Nov. 8 – http://www.planningcenteronline.com/plans/808545/public
We took a few minutes during our service in a time of remembrance. November 11th is Remembrance day in Canada. My prayer is that God will fill our cities, provinces, countries and the world with Peace. There is a lot of stuff going on right now.
I enjoyed filling on keyboards while Merle led us in a great morning of worship.
Opening Set:
- All Creation Worships You (Kirk Dearman and Jim Mills)
- All Creatures of our God and King (David Crowder, William Henry Draper, Brent Milligan, and St. Francis of Assisi)
Second Set:
Thank You Lord (Paul Baloche and Don Moen)
- Meekness and Majesty (Graham Kendrick)
- He Is Lord (Ben Fielding)
- Father I Adore You (Terrye Coelho)
Closing Song:
- Immortal Invisible (John Roberts and Walter Chalmers Smith)
Have a great week everyone!

Worship Reflections – October 11, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Here’s what we sang:
Thanksgiving Medley
- Come Ye Thankful People Come
- For The Beauty of the Earth
- Responsive Reading
- We Gather Together
- Invocation
- Community Life
- Pastoral Prayer and Offering
- Thank You Lord (Meon/Baloche)
- What Can I Do (Baloche)
- Hosanna (Baloche)
- Message
- Give Thanks (Smith)
It was a great morning with a special focus on thankfulness to God for who He is and how He blesses us. The opening medley was great. We started off with piano only for the first hymn, and added the band for the next. As I led in the responsive reading, we had piano playing the into chord pattern for We Gather Together. Although we’ve done responsive readings before, having it backed with music really seemed to help it flow with the music. Throughout we kept the instrumentation light and let the voices shine through.
The second set was great. Thank You Lord is such a fin song to sing. Great upbeat, almost Ho-Down type of feel. As the final chord faded out, we led vocally into What Can I Do. Keith and Melanie led us into Hosanna (Praise Is Rising) with a great bass and drum pattern.
It was great to have our new Adult Ministries pastor, Darren Andres, give the Thanksgiving message. It’s great to have Darren and his family join the team!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Breakforth Canada – 2010
Question: Why would 4,000 people converge on Edmonton, Alberta on January 29, 2010?
Answer: Because that is when Christians from all over North America gather for BreakForth 10. If you have never been to BreakForth, I enourage you to grab your parkas and touques and make the Journey. Click on the image to see what will be happening!

What Happened to Worship Reflections (a.k.a. Suddenly it's Saturday!)
Did anyone notice that I didn’t get Worship Reflections posted this week? We were in Alberta last weekend visiting family. I spent most of the rest of this week catching up. (ok … that should say trying to catch up!)
Worship Reflections will be back tomorrow!
Have a blessed Sunday Everyone.

A great morning! Our focus was on our youth. Marv Penner (AllAboutYouth) had a great message on the role of youth in our churches.
The service recording is available onDemand.
From a planning perspective, I sure wish that I had scheduled our Youth/Young Adult Worship Team (Ignite!).
Here’s how the morning looked in “Planning Center“.
Here’s what we sang:

- Step By Step (Strasser)
- Holy Is The Lord (Tomlin, Giglio)
- He Is Lord (Fielding)
- Hosanna (Fraser)
Blessings,

WPBC Worship Reflections – September 13, 2009
This was our first Sunday back to two services (9:30 / 11:00) after a summer of single services.
Our song selections this week:
- Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee
- Invocation
- Blessed Be Your Name (Redman)
- Everlasting God (Brown, Riley)
- I Will Rise (Tomlin, Giglio, Reeves, Maher)
- You Are Worthy of My Praise (Ruis)
The morning was a great kickoff to a new ministry year. It was wonderful to have our new adult ministries pastor, Darren Andres, and his family with us.
I was really blessed by the worship team this week. Despite some major distractions in their lives, two of our young adults, Brayden and Melanie, served on the team this week.
The opening hymn went very well. I still need to work on singing and playing when I’m on the organ!! Blessed Be Your Name and Everlasting God were powerful. They were done a bit slower than I had envisioned, but it left room for some great work by the band.
We were very blessed by the song “I Will Rise” this week. Great dynamics and teamwork by the band.
It was a very special morning!
Have a great week everyone!
