Let Your Light Shine!

Worship Reflections – January 10, 2010

Today was one of those mornings when it is such a blessing to lead worship.  Our congregation came today with a clear desire to meet God and to praise Him in His sanctuary.

This week, I changed up our pre-rehearsal routine a bit.  Instead of the worship leader offering a quick prayer prior to the rehearsal, I called the whole team on platform, including the tech team.  We prayed together, each one contributing to our corporate prayer as they felt lead.  (I have no idea why it took me so long to start doing this!!!)

As a worship team, we just had to start the songs and it all flowed out in praise from God’s people.

Our setlist consisted of:

  • Hosanna (Baloche)
  • Forever (Tomlin)
  • Invocation
  • You Are My King (Foote)
  • Amazing Grace – My Chains are Gone (Newton, Tomlin et.al)
  • Prayer and Offering
  • Take My Life (Underwood)
  • Scripture – Matthew 5:13-16
  • Shine (Redman)
  • Message
  • We are an Offering (Liles)

Worship Reflections – January 3, 2010

Worship@Westhill

We had an absolutely great start to 2010.  Byron and the Ignite! team lead the congregation in song this morning.

We did a single service this week with both 9:30 & 11:00 services combined at 11;00.  The sanctuary was packed to the point of us having to put out additional chairs!  As we look towards the New Year, it will be excitiing to see what God will do through his servants at Westhill.  I couldn’t help but think how wonderful it would be if we got to the point of packing out 2 full services!

Great music by Ignite!, even with the congregation’s insistence on singing “How Great Thou Art” in their own timing, which didn’t match the worship team until the last verse!

Here’s how things looked in Planning Center:

SetList:

Call To Worship
– Come, Now Is The Time to Worship
– Jesus Messiah

Congregational Singing
– How Great Is Our God
– How Great Thou Art

Offering
– God of Wonders

Wrap-up
– When I Survey The Wondrous Cross

Blessings,

When Things Don’t Go As Planned, Take 2

Bob Kauflin, worship leader and blogger, shares an incident at an annual conference where the worship band and leader were definitely no in the same key!

When Things Don’t Go As Planned, Take 2.

Try as we might to plan every transition, and every key change, there will be times when we are just not on the same key!  An you know what?  The Holy Spirit still “sticks around” even during our “train wrecks”.

Be blessed,

…Randy

Bible Reading Plan – YouVersion.com

One of my focus areas for 2010 is to intentionally spend more time with God and His Word.

As with anything, it is always best to have a plan.  I have begun a reading plan called Project 345 Plus Plus which is provided at a great website, http://www.youversion.com. They have quite a few various reading plans for different needs. I picked 345 Plus which provides a structured read through the New Testament in one year as well as the Proverbs and Psalms.

I’d like to encourage you to join me in making an intentional journey through God’s word this year!

For 2010, I desire to …

I’m not into setting resolutions, but I do feel that the beginning of a new year is a great time to re-focus.  I’m in the process of refining my personal goals and wanted to share some of my high level thoughts with you!  So here’s where I am starting this year!

Spiritual – I need to intentionally spend more time with God and His Word.  A fellow worship leader introduced me to a great tool at www.youversion.com.

Relational – I want to be the very best husband, father and grandfather that I can be.  This means quality time with those that are the most important to me, my family.

Physical – ’nuff said!

Ministry – I want to take renewed focus on serving God and the people that he has entrusted to my care.

Happy New Year!

Westhill Worship! – November 15, 2009

We had a lot of different things happening this morning.  Our current focus is on the Nicene Creed.   We intentionally changed our typical order of service, with an extended song set early in the service.

We also spent time with a focus on Prayer for the Persecuted Church.

Here’s a peek at the Planning Center view of the morning:

Nov. 15 – http://www.planningcenteronline.com/plans/808546/public

Walk-in Song:

Call to Worship:

Opening Set:

Persecuted Church:

We viewed a video (available at idop.ca) that gave a brief overview of what many churches face.  The church in Canada / North America is very, very blessed by the many freedoms we experience as we live our faith.  I led the congregation in two songs that we sang without a band, without hymnals and without projection.

David continued his series on the Creed (Video onDemand)

We closed with There Is A Redeemer Melody Green-Sievright

A very, very good morning worshiping God.
